1. Where are you from & why did you join Feedbacknation?
I am from the Bay Area, specifically Saratoga; I currently live in Berkeley as a UC Berkeley student. I joined Feedbacknation because it embodies what I love about instagram and the photography community -- creatives coming together to share their love, talent, and unique perspectives on art and the world. I am inspired by the photographers I have met through the page, and honored by the ability to inspire them in return.
2. What inspires you to create art?
I love the euphoria and adrenaline I get when I finish creating a piece of work whether it be a photograph, a piece of writing, or a musical composition. It is an amazing feeling to take the creative musings that fill my mind on a daily basis and put hard work into making those creative musings a concrete product. From there, knowing I can share my artistic vision with the world to keep growing as an artist and person keeps me motivated and inspired.
3. What about you, would you like the nation to know?
I suffered from severe depression growing up. I never felt like I truly fit in anywhere, and I always struggled to not only find my passion, but also to respect myself enough to pursue those passions. I felt that I was only being pushed to make certain decisions because that was what society wanted of me, and that I didn't deserve to pursue what mattered to me. I began to judge myself based off how society judged me, and in the end I became apathetic and angry towards the constructs of our world. I didn't feel like I had anything worthy to show about myself. Eventually, photography became my way of breaking out my depression. I finally found an outlet to hone my artistic ideas and identity. As I saw myself starting to connect with and inspire others, I began to realize that pursuing my passions is what brings me purpose and meaning to my everyday life. I began to truly be proud of my own identity. It's the reason I wake up in the morning, wondering what I can accomplish today and further advance my artistic vision. I hope everyone realizes their own passions are worth pursuing and defining one's own identity for them self is one of the best things we can do.
